HERE ARE SOME TIPS IF YOUR DIAL –UP INTERNET IS NOT WORKING

If your connection is not working, way to slow, or stalling; try making a new connection.

 

How to Make a New Connection?

 

1.       Left double click on My Computer icon

2.       Left double click on Dial-Up Networking icon

3.       Make sure there are no other icons except for the Make New Connection icon.

4.       If there are any other icons, right click on the icons one by one and scroll down to delete and left click delete

5.       Now left double click on the Make New Connection icon

6.       You will then get a window that asks you to “type a name for the computer you are dialing”

7.      Type bbc.net where it says My Connection

8.       Where it says select a device, the modem that is currently in your computer should be listed

9.      Click on Next

10.   Type your local Internet dial-up number (listed below), you must type the area code in the area code box

11.  Click on Next

12.   Click on Finish

13.   Now you should be back to the Dial-Up networking window

14.   You should have a bbc.net icon in the window

15.   Left double click on the bbc.net icon

16.   You will now have a Connect To: window

17.  Type in your User Name and Password (All Lowercase)

18.  Make sure your internet dial up number does not have an area code in front of the number

19.  Click connect

20.   You’re done

 

TO REMOVE THE AREA CODE

1.     Left click on your bbc.net connection icon

2.     Go to properties

3.     Remove the Area Code

4.     Click OK

 

 

 

 

TO ADD A SHORTCUT TO YOUR BBC.NET CONNECTION ON YOUR DESKTOP

1.      Go to My Computer

2.      Dial-up Networking

3.      Right click on your bbc.net connection

4.      Go to create shortcut

5.      Click yes to have it placed on your desktop

6.      Close out of everything and the connection should be on your desktop

DISABLE CALL WAITING

 

Q. How to disable call waiting?

 

A. Click on My Computer on the desk top

 

Double click on Dial-up Networking icon

 

Double click on your bbc account icon

 

In the connect to window, click on dial properties

 

Make sure the “to disable call waiting” box is marked.

 

Type in *70,, in the white box which comes up after marking the “disable call waiting”

IF YOU HAVE DIAL-UP INTERNET YOU MUST BE CONNECTED BEFORE YOUR INTERNET BROWSER OR YOUR EMAIL WILL WORK.  IF YOU HAVE A CONNECTION ON YOUR DESKTOP CLICK ON THAT TO CONNECT FIRST OR GO STRAIGHT TO YOUR BROWSER AND A CONNECTION SCREEN SHOULD COME UP IF YOU ARE NOT CONNECTED.  ONCE YOU ARE CONNECTED THE INTERNET SHOULD WORK!
